About John

A trusted tutor with over a decade of experience

John has spent more than 13 years helping students achieve their best through tailored, engaging tuition. With over 13,000 hours of one-to-one teaching experience, he brings not only subject expertise but also the ability to connect with each student as an individual.

His background as a qualified teacher (PGCE with QTS, Distinction) and former classroom practitioner means he combines professional training with the flexibility and personalisation of private tuition. Since 2012, John has worked with students across a wide range of ages and abilities, from exam preparation to long-term homeschooling.

John has also created and delivered tutor and teacher training in the UK and internationally. He has been the elected President of The Tutors’ Association, the professional body representing the tuition sector, since 2020.

• PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (Distinction).

• BSc (Hons) Natural Sciences, Durham University (2:1).

• 13+ years as a full-time professional tutor.

• Thousands of hours of tutoring experience, from Key Stage 2 to A Level.

• Recognised expert within the tutoring sector, contributing to best practice and professional standards.

Beyond Tuition

Alongside his work with students, John has played a role in raising standards in the wider tutoring sector through his involvement with The Tutors’ Association and co-founded Get My Grades, an innovative online learning platform. These experiences enrich his tutoring practice but his true passion remains one-to-one teaching and supporting families directly.
